Key West, Spring Break (April 2003)

I didn't take very many pictures on this trip.  I now notice no one took any of me.  Anyway, we had a GREAT time. And this without the boat, because we flew down. I went down on the 6th. Cindy came down on the 11th. Our friends also arrived on the 11th. In fact, when Cindy and I got back from picking her up at the airport, the friends were at the house drinking rum and cokes (they picked up the fixin's on the way down from Miami).

I did not get any pictures of the restaurants we went to, but they were great. A couple of them were out by us. We all agreed that this trip was special. The weather was spectacular. Everyone had a wonderful time. Cindy and I did a little kayaking too. We went out and watched the sunset from the water one night . One morning we paddled through the canals.

Approaching the Dry Tortugas on the Yankee Freedom II. The trip took a little over 2 hours. We had breakfast on the way out. The crew was great. We really enjoyed this, although it was a little steep, $120 per person. The trip starts at 8:00am and you get back at about 5:00pm. It is amazing to see this immense structure out here in the middle of nowhere.

We had snorkeling gear with us. We had not brought our fins so we checked out fins from the boat and walked over to the beach. At first we snorkeled over to the right, but that was under-whelming. Then we went to a bunch of pilings off to the left.  That was much better. Lots of fish, including a bunch of barracudas. One of us had trouble getting out of the water. Wish I had a picture of that.

Then we went inside the fort. We left the tour and went off on our own. The fort is really big, with lots of little rooms and what not.

Here is the group on top of the Fort. That is Bush Key in the background. Look at the water. It is crystal clear. The photographer is better looking than any of them.

This is another shot from the top of the fort. This is one of the float planes that fly out with tourists. Maybe we'll do that next time. They don't stay as long, but I bet it's a nice trip.

Cindy and I went to Bahia Honda twice, once with our friends and once after they left on Tuesday. We got some sun (I got a little too much) and had some nice walks and swims. Neat beach. It's about 14 miles north of us.

Swimsuit model!! This is a picture I took of Cindy as she was getting ready to go to the beach. The background was not too romantic so I cropped the heck out of it. Not bad though, for a girl of ...
